Walker-Weinstein has led the Eagles to five straight appearances in the NCAA Championship, winning the national title in 2021
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College and head women's lacrosse coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein have agreed to a five-year contract extension through the 2027 season.
In her 10 seasons at the helm of the Eagles, Walker-Weinstein has firmly planted the Boston College flag among the top women's lacrosse programs in the nation. This past season, BC made its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship final, falling by one goal in the title game. In 2021, the Eagles captured the National Championship, downing Syracuse, 16-10.
"We are thrilled to have Acacia continue to lead our women's lacrosse program," said JM Caparro, interim director of athletics and sport administrator for lacrosse. "The championship culture she has built with the women's lacrosse program has made a tremendous impact throughout the athletics department and Boston College as a whole. She has firmly established BC as one of the consistent powers in the NCAA and within the lacrosse community."
Over the past decade, Walker-Weinstein has compiled a 154-48 (.762) record, including a 44-22 (.667) mark in ACC play. Over the last four full seasons, Walker-Weinstein has guided BC to an 81-11 overall record and a 28-4 mark in conference play.
"I remain honored, humbled and excited about the long-term commitment BC has decided to make to me and our program," said Walker-Weinstein. "While this year's outcome wasn't the one we dreamed of, my staff, girls, and I remain laser-focused on remaining a perennial program that competes every year for a National Championship."
Additionally, Jennifer Kent has been promoted to associate head coach. A member of the BC coaching staff for the last 14 seasons, Kent is widely regarded as one of the top defensive coaches in the country. She has also played a major role in the development of the Eagles' on and off the field.
"Jenn Kent deserves this recognition and promotion to associate head coach. She has been with me since the beginning and her tireless work ethic has lifted us to the highest heights. I can't thank her enough," Walker-Weinstein said. "Our entire coaching staff, including Sam Apuzzo and Callahan Kent, play major roles in what we are trying to build here at Boston College. Sam's commitment to BC and her lacrosse legacy is one of excellence and I'm proud to be able to work with her at the Heights. Â
From Callahan Kent, to the rest of our training and coaching staff, I believe we have retained the best staff in the country. Thank you to JM Caparro, our support staff, and the BC administration for the commitment, focus, and attention they continue to show on a daily basis. It has allowed our coaching staff to solidify ourselves as a program that demands attention and everyone's best shot - we look forward to more of that!"
