About the Eagles
Last Time Out
The Eagles set offensive records in a 94-68 win over Quinnipiac on Thursday. BC set a postseason single-game scoring record while Taylor Soule did the same, scoring a career-high 33 points and tied a personal mark with 16 rebounds. Soule shot an impressive 14-of-18 in the outing. Cameron Swartz got back to her scoring ways with 20 points and corralled eight rebounds. Marnelle Garraud rounded out the leading scorers with 13 points, hitting three of her five field goals from 3-point range.Â
A Win Would
- Give BC a 22-11 mark on the season.
- Advance the Eagles to the Elite Eight round of the WNIT.Â
- Give the Eagles their most wins since the 2008-09 season (23 wins).
By the Numbers
2 - Soule is one of two players in the nation to post at least 30 points, 15 rebounds and shoot 75 percent in a game.Â
25.5 - The Eagles won their first two games by an average of 25.5 points per game.Â
80 - BC is 30-2 under Bernabei-McNamee when it scores 80 or more points.Â
130.6 - The offensive rating for the Eagles on Thursday, which is a season-high.Â
500 - Soule (516 points) and Swartz (506 points) are the first teammates since Carolyn Swords (579 points) and Stefanie Murphy (505 points) in 2010-11 to score 500 points in a season.
What to Watch for
- After turning the ball over just 11 times against Quinnipiac, see if the Eagles can continue to protect the rock. In five of CU's six losses, opponents turned the ball over 12 or fewer times.
- In two WNIT games, Taylor Soule is averaging 27.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, and shooting 69.7 percent from the field. Watch if the senior can keep up her stellar play.
- In the first two games of the WNIT, the Eagles are averaging 21 free throw attempts. Opponents are averaging 19.6 free throw attempts in CU's six losses.
- Boston College is 14-0 this season when its offensive rating (points per 100 possessions) is above 100, including a season-high of 130.6 against Quinnipiac. Watch if the offense can sustain its success against a Columbia team that is 1-5 when its defensive rating is above 100.
- Over the last three road games (2-1), the Eagles have four players averaging double figures, with Cameron Swartz leading the team at a 17.3 per clip. Despite losing in the previous away game against Florida State (neutral site), see if BC can bounce back on the road against the Lions.Â
Scouting Columbia
- Columbia is 24-6 to the season after a 62-59 win over Old Dominion in the second round of the WNIT.Â
- The Lions have been solid at home with a 10-3 record.Â
- Four players scored in double figures against the Monarchs, with Abbey Hsu pouring in 17 points.
- Kaitlyn Davis (11 pts) and Jaida Patrick (10 pts) led the team with nine rebounds.Â
- Hsu is averaging a team-high 16.7 points per game and is pulling down 4.5 rebounds.Â
- Davis' 8.5 rpg is a team best, while she is averaging 12.8 points per contest.Â
- Hsu is third in the country in 3-point field goals made per game at 3.5 and fifth in total 3's made (105).Â
- The Lions are 14th in the country in rebounds per game at 42.3 and 51st in rebounding margin at plus-5.5.
- CU is also 21st in the nation in assists per game (16.3).Â
