BC Volleyball brings in five student athletes on National Signing Day
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Volleyball has announced that five student-athletes have signed their National Letter of Intent to join the Eagles in the Fall of 2023, according to Head Coach Jason Kennedy and Associate Head Coach Marissa Prinzbach. This class will be coming from all different parts of the country with two players from California, two from Texas and one from Florida.
Joining the Eagles are outside hitters Audrey Ross of Danville, Calif and Halle Schroder of Frisco, Texas, opposite hitter Samantha Hoppes of Trophy Club, Texas and liberos Chandler Swanson of Fort Meyers, FL and Brooklyn Yelland of Laguna Beach, Calif.
Coach Kennedy on the '23 class: "We've been excited to get this class to campus for a long time. They're already such a tight family unit with each other that have similarly aligned goals with our program and our coaches and I can't wait to have them on campus this summer. This class gives us additional depth on the pins and in the back court and I believe they'll have an immediate impact on our culture and performance on the court. Furthermore, they're just great people. Each one of them are the sort of athlete you're excited to wake up in the morning and head to the gym to get to work with. I can't wait to see how far they can continue to move the program forward over the next four years."
Audrey Ross
6-2 | Outside Hitter | Danville, CA
High School: San Ramon Valley High School
Club: NorCal Volleyball Club

Ross was named Westcoast prep's athlete of the month in October 2022. Coach Kennedy on Audrey: "Audrey is a fluid 6 rotation attacker that has been the go to hitter for her club team for the last few years. She's used to carrying a large offensive load and additionally can pass and attack out of the back row. I think Audrey can have a pretty immediate impact on the team and in the conference. "
Samantha Hoppes
6-1 | Opposite Hitter | Trophy Club, TX
High School: Byron Nelson High School
Club: Drive Nation
Accolades: Samantha was the #29 Ranked Recruit out of Texas according to Prep Dig, she was a 2022 Max Prep First Team All-American and a PrepDig 2023 First Team All-State right side hitter. Hoppes was also a three time first team all-district and was named 2021 team MVP and offensive player of the year. She was team captain for her club team, Drive Nation and led her team in kills for last two Nationals as well as a member of the 2021 All-Tournament team for Nationals Open Division.
Coach Kennedy on Samantha: "Sam is a versatile right side attacker that plays with a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm. She is a leader on every team she's been on and I know she'll be able to have a similar impact here at BC. Sam gives us another lefty option on the right side and we're hoping her skills as a fast twitch attacker lets us speed up our offense on that pin to be even more dynamic out of that spot."
Halle Schroder
6-1 | Outside Hitter | Frisco, TX
High School: Reedy High School
Club: Drive Nation
Accolades: Halle was named the #40th Ranked Recruit in Texas per PrepDig. Coach Kennedy on Halle: "Halle is one of the more composed and mature attackers I've seen in this age group. Her IQ and ability to understand the game and adapt to whoever she is playing against is a skill that suits her well as she makes the adjustment to college. Being on one of the top club teams in the country has helped her play against some of the top players in the country so she'll be pretty familiar with a lot of the faces on the other side of the net in this conference."
Chandler Swanson

High School: Canterbury School
Club: USA South Volleyball
Accolades: Swanson was a 2021 and 2018 AAU All-American and a member of the 2019 and 2018 USAV High Performance Teams. She was also a two time Defensive Player of the Year and 2021-22 MVP for her team.
Coach Kennedy on Chandler: "Chandler is one of the quickest liberos I've seen in this class. I think she's gone under the radar a little bit but her defensive skills are well ahead of most liberos her age. She has such a determination to be the best at her position and it's evident in her work ethic and dedication to the sport. As a libero you want the kid that's going to run through the wall for a ball and not give up on a play and Chandler is exactly that player."

High School: Laguna Beach High School
Club: Coast Volleyball Club

She's always calm and able to do her job as a passer and defender with a tremendous amount of confidence even in tight situations. She is the kid in the gym everyone knows and everyone wants to be friends with. Her personality is enigmatic and I'm excited to have her in the gym to work with for the next four years."
