Eagles Ready to Run at NCAA Regional Championship
November 10, 2022 | Women's Cross Country
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass – The Eagles are set to compete in the DI NCAA Northeast Regional Championships this Friday at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. The event is hosted by Columbia University. The women's teams will kick off the event at 11:00 a.m. with the 6K.
All About The Bid:
The regional championships are a crucial opportunity for teams to advance to the Division I NCAA Cross Country Championships. The top two programs in each regional will secure automatic bids to the championship. Additionally, the first four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team will also secure a trip to the championships.
In the event a team does not secure an automatic bid, it will have to rely on the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee to select it as one of the 13 at-large teams. Two individual at-larges are selected, making a strong regional performance essential to advancing toward a national title.
For the Northeast Region, #18 Providence and #26 Syracuse are the ranked competitors in the women's 6K.
