No. 18 Providence Defeats Boston College to Open Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – 18th-ranked Providence opened a home-and-home series on Friday night by beating Boston College 7-0 at Kelley Rink, snapping a tie for fourth place in the Hockey East standings.
The Eagles dropped back to .500 overall at 10-10-3 (5-7-2 HEA) while the Friars improved to 16-9-1 (7-7-0 HEA).
Riley Duran fired a one-timer into the top left corner off the back bar at 11:22 of the first period to open the scoring from Jamie Engelbert and Chase Yoder. The Friars added a second with 1:18 left in the frame on a power play one-timer in the right circle from Nick Poisson.
Providence doubled its lead early in the second period on edge of the crease deflections from Kohen Olischefski at 4:38 and Engelbert on the power play at 7:11. Parker Ford added a tally from the right circle at 17:47 for a 5-0 cushion.
In the third period, Poisson netted his second of the night and Max Crozier tacked on a goal from the point to cap the scoring.
The teams close the home-and-home series on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on NESN at Schneider Arena.
