July 21, 2021 | Skiing
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Former Boston College captain Parker Biele '21 is one of eight women selected to compete in alpine skiing for the United States at the 2021 World University Games in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Â
Entering its 30th anniversary, the World University Games represent the largest international winter multi-sport event for collegiate athletes. Alpine events will be contested at the ski resort of St. Moritz from Dec. 11-14, 2021.
Â
Biele will compete in giant slalom for the U.S. after ranking top 500 on the first FIS list and top 100 for U.S. skiers in the event. She is currently ranked 17th nationally for all ages in GS.
Â
Biele is coming off the most accomplished collegiate season in school history. The Woodstock, Vermont native became the first Eagle to lead the EISAÂ giant slalom individual rankings for the season. She was also the first skier in program history to win an EISA carnival with first place in the GS at the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid.
Â
Biele earned her second straight trip to the NCAA Championships and placed 13th in the giant slalom at Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire, five spots higher than her NCAA debut in 2020. She also had Boston College's highest-ever finish in the NCAA slalom with 17th overall.
Â
BC head coach Chuck Carmone has also been invited to the event by the United States Ski Team NCAA Committee and will coach the U.S. squad during the competition. Rising senior Spencer Wright was named an alternate for the U.S. team in Super-G.
