GREENSBORO, N.C. – After graduating this spring with a degree in sociology, Charlotte North has been named the ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year, while she is joined by Rachel Hall, Hollie Schleicher and Belle Smith on the ACC All-Academic Team.
North, recently named both the Tewaaraton Award winner and IWLCA Player of the Year, set the NCAA record for goals in a single season with 102. She was a consensus first-team All-American and an All-ACC first team selection, tallying 114 points and grabbing 174 draws this year. A native of Dallas, she was named the most outstanding player in the NCAA Tournament after leading BC to its first-ever national title and scoring a single-tournament record 31 goals.
Hall found her stride as the season went on, going 18-3 in goal with a .402 save percentage and 11.18 goals against average. She made 20 saves throughout the two final four games, including 11 against North Carolina in the semifinal. Her efforts landed her on the NCAA All-Tournament team.
Schleicher was a consensus All-American, being named to the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine second team and Inside Lacrosse third team. She tallied 92 draw controls, 33 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers on the year. The 92 draws were the seventh-most in a single season at BC and she was fifth in the ACC with 4.38 draws per game. Schleicher had 26 draws in the five NCAA Tournament games and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team.
Smith, a consensus All-American, was named to the IWLCA second team and USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse third team, while also being the only freshman on either the All-ACC first or second teams. She set BC freshman records with 65 points and 47 goals this year. She had at least a point in every game this season, including 14 in the NCAA Tournament, helping her be named to the NCAA All-Tournament team.
