Lopez Beats Top-35 Opponent in Loss to No. 14 Duke

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Boston College hosted 14th-ranked Duke on Friday afternoon at the Weymouth Club to begin Senior Weekend and fell to the Blue Devils by a score of 6-1.

BC's record drops to 4-8 (2-8 ACC), while Duke moves to 12-5 (7-4 ACC).

Junior Laura Lopez came out victorious for the Eagles over 34th-ranked Chloe Beck in a third set tiebreaker to secure the Eagles' point.
Duke's Kelly Chen and Georgia Drummy cruised quickly to a doubles victory over Reagan Posorske and Maria Ross by a score of 6-0. The point was then clinched for the Blue Devils in second doubles by Beck and Karolina Berenkova. Marice Aguiar and Lopez were in a tight match in No. 1 doubles before the match went unfinished, 5-5.

Duke continued the push in singles play, with five out of six players winning their respective matches in straight sets. BC was without senior captains Kylie Wilcox and Natasha Irani for the match.Â

The Eagles are back at home to take on No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday morning (April 11) at 10 a.m. at the Weymouth Club.
