BC Ends Season on Five-Match Win Streak

Eagles dispatched of Merrimack in four sets on Saturday night.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball team earned its fifth straight victory, 3-1, over Merrimack inside Power Gym on Saturday night. The Eagles, winners of five in a row, finished the season 6-12 overall after their first nine losses all came to top-20 opponents.
BC won the first two sets by identical scores of 25-14. The Warriors climbed back into it with a 25-20 showing in the third before the Eagles put the match away with a third 25-14 win in the fourth. Merrimack hung around in the fourth until a 7-0 BC run, capped by a kill from freshman middle blocker Peyton Minyard (Coppell, Texas) that made it 17-9. Minyard would finish the night with 11 kills, including the match-point, to no errors on a .733 attack rate. She also added three service aces.
Sophomore outside hitter Silvia Ianeselli (Trento, Italy) contributed on both sides of the ball with 11 kills and 16 digs in a double-double effort to go with three aces. Freshman outside hitter Katrina Jensen (Temecula, Calif.) led all players with 14 kills, while sophomore right side Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) chipped in with nine kills.
The Eagles' setter duo of freshmen Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.) and Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each dished out 24 assists. Penn notched seven digs, while Lambros added three digs, three aces and two kills. Freshman libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) totaled a match-high 18 digs, while classmate Bridget Green (New York, N.Y.) had five digs, five assists and three aces.
