
Eagles Fall 4-1 to Louisville at ACC Championships

ROME, Ga. – Boston College took on Louisville in the first round of the ACC Championships on Wednesday morning at the Rome Tennis Center. The Eagles fell to the Cardinals by a score of 4-1 to end their 2021 season at 4-12.

The Eagles got off to a good start in doubles play, as the 51st-ranked duo of Laura Lopez and Marice Aguiar defeated Chelsea Sawyer and Raven Neely 6-2. The Cardinals answered in third doubles with a 6-2 victory behind Dina Chaika and Tatiana Simova.

The doubles point came down to Court 1, a ranked match between No. 66 Yufei Long/Kylie Wilcox and No. 62 Rhea Verma/Andrea Di Palma. Long and Wilcox had a 5-4 lead, but the Cardinals responded and came out on top 7-5 to clinch the opening point.

Louisville used the back end of singles play to close out the match behind victories from Verma, Chaika and Jelena Vujanic. No. 107 Kylie Wilcox was a winner in second singles in straight sets over Neely 6-3, 7-5 to close her NCAA career. Long and Aguiar were both in tight matches in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots that went unfinished.Â

Louisville moves on to the second round to face fifth-seeded Duke on Thursday.
