Eagles Earn NCAA Tournament At-Large Bid

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's hockey team has been selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Women's Hockey Tournament, it was announced by the selection committee on Sunday night.

The Eagles will face Ohio State in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, March 16 at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pa.

Boston College received an at large-bid after finishing the regular season with a mark of 14-4-0 and a national ranking as high as sixth. This is the 12th NCAA tournament appearance for the Eagles. BC played in nine consecutive tournaments from 2011 to 2019, making it to the national championship in 2016 – where it lost to Minnesota – as well as the semifinals in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017.

The Eagles secured one of four at-large berths to the national tournament, joining Providence, Ohio State and Minnesota Duluth to make up the at-large selections. Postseason conference tournament winners Northeastern (Hockey East), Wisconsin (WCHA), Robert Morris (College Hockey America) and Colgate (ECAC Hockey) all secured automatic berths and round out the tournament field.
All eight participating teams will travel to Erie for the NCAA tournament. Two of the quarterfinal games will be conducted March 15, while the remaining two quarterfinal games will be held March 16. The semifinals of the Women's Frozen Four will take place March 19, followed by the national championship game March 21.
