
Eagles Place Four Skiers in Top-20 of Slalom at NCAA Championships

FRANCONIA, N.H. – Four members of Boston College's NCAA skiing squad placed in the top-20 of the slalom competition on Friday to close out the 2021 NCAA Championships, hosted by New Hampshire at Cannon Mountain. All six Eagles at the alpine event were among the top-25 finishers.

As a team, Boston College finished tied for seventh with host UNH in the women's slalom with 34 points and eighth in the men's slalom with 33 points out of 11 schools.

Senior captain Parker Biele closed her NCAA career with BC's highest finish of the day, placing 17th overall in the women's slalom with a final time of 1:45.61. Freshman Lauren Geary attacked her second run with the third-fastest time in the entire field to place 18th, while classmate Haley Castner finished 24th overall in her NCAA slalom debut.

On the men's side, rookie Zach Simmons (1:33.44) posted an 18th place finish for the Eagles with the seventh-best second run time of the day. Junior captain Trent Gutstein put together two consistent runs to finish 20th overall, while sophomore Will Kornya's spectacular second run was the second-fastest in the field for 22nd place.
