Knight Named Goalie of the Year, Eagles Land Four on Hockey East All-Star Teams

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Spencer Knight was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Year on Friday and earned First Team All-Star honors along with classmates Matt Boldy and Drew Helleson. Captain Marc McLaughlin was also selected as a Hockey East Third Team All-Star.

Knight became the first Eagle to win the Goaltender of the Year award since Thatcher Demko in 2014. It also marked Boston College's first year with three First Team All-Stars since that same year when Kevin Hayes, Johnny Gaudreau and Michael Matheson were picked.

Knight is 15-2-1 in 18 starts this season, ranking third nationally in winning percentage (.861) behind only Dryden McKay of Minnesota State and Cameron Rowe of Wisconsin. He also ranks third nationally in save percentage (.937) and 11th in goals against average (1.99). The sophomore owns a record of 23-2-2 in his last 27 starts dating back to last season, which included a personal unbeaten streak of 20 games. In 51 NCAA starts, Knight is 38-10-3 for a .775 career winning percentage.

Boldy finished second in the Hockey East scoring race behind Jonny Evans of UConn with 24 points in 21 games on 10 goals and 14 assists. His second of two goals against Northeastern last Friday was his 50th career point. Boldy has three multi-goal games this season and is currently eighth nationally in points per game and 16th in assists per game.

Helleson led the league at plus-21 during the regular season, which ranks third in college hockey, and blocked the ninth-most shots in Hockey East with 30. He had a career-high 14 points at the other end of the ice on four goals and 10 assists to rank 16th nationally in scoring by a defenseman. The sophomore posted a career-high six-game point streak in February.

McLaughlin was honored as Hockey East's Best Defensive Forward on Thursday. The junior finished the regular season tied for sixth in the league in scoring with a career-high 23 points. He is tied for the NCAA lead with five game-winning goals and is tied with Boldy for the national lead in shorthanded goals with three.

No. 1 Boston College hosts ninth-seeded UNH on Sunday (March 14) in the Hockey East Quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. on NESN at Kelley Rink.
