Eagles Open Up 2021 Season at St. John's
February 06, 2021 | Fencing
The Eagles kicked off the shortened season with a dual against the Johnnies.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The Boston College fencing team opened up the 2021 season on Saturday, going up against the St. John's Red Storm at Taffner Field House.
Â
The Eagles picked up wins over St. John's in both rounds of the women's foil while the second round on the men's side saw the BC foil and epee squads earn a pair of 5-4 wins.
Â
COACH'S CORNER
"I'm very happy with how both teams overcame adversity and injury today," said head coach Brendan Doris-Pierce. "For the women, the epee squad fenced very well against a strong squad from St. John's. The men's team as a whole really battled to minimize only having two fencers in men's sabre and having to sacrifice three bouts a round, and nearly pulled out a win against a talented Red Storm team. Now we rest for a bit and focus on Sacred Heart and Drew two weekends from now."
Â
