Gaby Roy Named to Hockey East All-Rookie Team
February 26, 2021 | Women's Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey forward Gaby Roy was named to the Hockey East Pro-Ambitions All-Rookie Team, as announced today by the conference office.
Roy recorded eight points on five goals and three assists in nine games played during the regular season. The Marshfield, Mass. native kicked off her collegiate career with a four-game point streak, including a four-goal outing in the season-opener at New Hampshire – the only four-goal game in the country this season. Her two game-winning goals led all rookies in Hockey East during the regular season and she also fired 19 shots on goal, blocked three shots and had a plus-7 rating.
Roy was named the Women's Hockey Commissioners' Association National Player of the Month for November after trying for the national lead in points and goals the first month of the season. She was also named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Nov. 23 and was recognized as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Nov. 30.
Roy was the first first-year NCAA player to record a hat trick in their collegiate debut since Yale's Elle Hartje against LIU on Oct. 25, 2019. Roy is the first player, men's or women's, with four goals in their first collegiate game since at least the 2011-12 season.
With Roy, the program now has 30 Hockey East All-Rookie Team honorees, with 23 of them coming under head coach Katie Crowley. BC has placed at least one Eagle on the All-Rookie Team every year since 2008-09. Roy is the 19th forward to earn the honor.
