December 08, 2021 | Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The defending-champion Boston College lacrosse team and head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein has announced its 2022 schedule, including eight games against 2021 NCAA Tournament teams. The Eagles will play the other three teams that made the 2021 final four as well.
BC opens the season on Saturday, Feb. 12 at home against Northwestern, who lost in the NCAA semifinal to Syracuse, 21-13.
The Eagles then have a pair of Massachusetts opponents, heading to Amherst to face the Minutewomen on Wednesday, Feb. 16 and welcoming BU on Saturday, Feb. 19.
BC then hits the road for four-straight, going to Virginia to open ACC play Wednesday, Feb. 23, Brown on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Louisville on Saturday, March 5. The Eagles end the road trip at Denver on Wednesday, March 9.
Then, BC has back-to-back home games for the first time this year, welcoming Yale on Sunday, March 13 and North Carolina, Saturday, March 19. Last season, BC fell to UNC in the regular season, 21-9, before avenging the loss, 11-10, in the NCAA semifinal to make its fourth-straight national title game.
For the first time ever, BC will travel to Pittsburgh, who is in their first NCAA season, on Saturday, March 26.
BC then has a three-game homestand, welcoming Dartmouth to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, March 30 and Virginia Tech on Saturday, April 2. In 2021, Charlotte North set a BC and ACC single-game record with 10 goals at Virginia Tech. The Eagles end the homestand with Notre Dame on Saturday, April 9, a team BC beat three times (all at home) last year.
Next, the Eagles head across town to Harvard to take on the Crimson on Tuesday, April 12. BC will see a familiar foe on the sidelines in Cambridge, as former BC star Dempsey Arsenault is a volunteer assistant.
BC closes the regular season with two ACC games, starting with Charlotte North's first return to Duke since her transfer to BC, and ending with a home faceoff with Syracuse. The Eagles are all too familiar with the Orange, who are now led by former BC assistant Kayla Treanor and former BC standout Kenzie Kent. Last year, the Orange and Eagles split four meetings, with BC taking the final matchup in the national title game, 16-10.
This year's ACC Tournament will be held from April 27-May 1 in South Bend, Indiana.
