Seven Eagles to compete at 11 a.m. on Nov 12
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional this Friday, Nov. 12 at Franklin Park at 11 a.m.
The NCAA Northeast Regional meet features some of the top teams throughout New England and New York, vying for a trip to the national championship. The top two team finishers in each of nine regions nationally earn an automatic spot in the field of the 2021 NCAA Championship, held on Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla. Another 13 teams are chosen at-large based on their performances throughout the season.
From the regional, the first four individual finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. Altogether, 36 individuals automatically qualify and two are chosen at-large, making 38 the grand total. The two at-large selections are the highest placing individuals at a regional that were not automatic qualifiers
Last time out, the Eagles placed sixth at the ACC Championship on Oct. 29 at Notre Dame. Anna Oeser earned All-ACC honors by placing 18th overall, clocking in at 20:46.6. The sixth place finish at ACC's was BC's highest placement as a team since 2015.
Seven runners will be competing for the Eagles on Friday: Oeser, Paige Carter, Katherine Connolly, Sarah Flynn, Kylee Raftis, Kayla Smith, and Lauren White.
