AMESBURY, Mass. – Boston College junior Alexie Guay has been named the Hockey East Defender of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.
The Magog, Quebec native helped the Eagles to a season-opening two-win weekend at Penn State.
In Thursday night's 2-1 overtime win, it was Guay that made a diving defensive stop on the goal line to send the play the other way and earn the assist on Abby Newhook's game-winning goal. Guay finished the weekend with four shots on goal, a plus-2 rating and a team-leading four blocked shots.
This marks the second career weekly honor for Guay, who was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week once during the 2020-21 season.
