Eagles take seventh in Championship 4+
BOSTON - The Boston College Rowing Team raced three boats in the 56th Head of the Charles. Â
On Saturday, Oct. 23, the Club 4+ and the Club 8+ took to the course. The Club 4+ passed a crew early and kept battling to walk through UConn towards the end of the course. They came in 15th place out of 54 crews. In the Club 8+, coxswain, Lily Parker executed a crucial turn under Eliot Bridge. This led them to place 12th out of 31 crews.
On Sunday, Oct. 24, the Champ 4+ passed Marist and Dartmouth and held off Radcliffe after they charged early. Thanks to careful steering from coxswain, Ella Bruno and consistent power from the rowers, they placed seventh out of 14.
"They handled a competitive race and a high pressure situation with maturity," said head coach Grace Hollowell. "We had a great experience and learned a lot this weekend as we look to build boat speed."
Since each of the Eagles' boats placed in the top halves of their respective events, each crew automatically qualifies to race next year.
Next up for the Eagles is a scrimmage against Dartmouth and UMass this coming Saturday.
