
Eagles Set to Kick Off ACC Schedule Oct. 1

.BC opens up eight-game ACC conference schedule at Notre Dame.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its fall Olympic sports schedules on Friday, with the Boston College women's soccer team set to kick things off on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Notre Dame.

There will be an eight-game conference schedule, which concludes on Sunday, Nov. 1. Each team will have four home and four away matches. An eight-team ACC Championship is planned for WakeMed Soccer Park, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10. The semifinals will be played on Friday, Nov. 13, while the championship will be Sunday, Nov. 15.

After opening up at Notre Dame on Oct. 1, the Eagles then head to Louisville for a game against the Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 4. After an Oct. 8 game at Pitt, Boston College will host Duke for the home opener on Thursday, Oct. 15. Another home match then follows, with 2019 national runner-up UNC coming to Newton on Sunday, Oct. 18. The final away game for BC comes on Oct. 22 at Syracuse. The Eagles will then wrap up the eight-game slate at home against Virginia (Oct. 29) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 1). In addition to UNC, Notre Dame, Louisville, Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech all played in the 2019 NCAA tournament.

The 2020 season marks the second under head coach Jason Lowe. Sam Smith, an ACC All-Freshman honoree last season, is the returning leading scorer for the Eagles. The sophomore registered 18 points on eight goals and two assists last season, second overall on the team. BC added 10 new faces to the 2020 roster, with eight first-year players and two transfers coming to the Heights.
