CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –The Boston College women's soccer program is saddened to learn of the recent passing of Trish Cook Barrigan '94. She is survived by her husband, Ian, and their children, Jack and Grace.
"We are deeply saddened by the news of Trish's passing," said head coach Jason Lowe. "She was a loyal supporter of Boston College women's soccer and an incredible role model to the women in our program. When we talk about the possibilities our student-athletes can create for themselves after a successful career at Boston College, we use Trish's journey as a prime example."
Barrigan graduated from Boston College in 1994 with a degree in political science (summa cum laude). The three-year captain left her mark on the field, starting 50 games and playing 4,793 minutes in goal. Barrigan ranks third all-time in career saves with 323 and her 1.11 goals against average and 4,793 minutes played both rank fifth-best in program history. Off the field, Barrigan was inducted into the National Jesuit Honor Society.
In 2005, Barrigan co-founded Benson Elliot, one of Europe's leading real estate investment firms, and was named managing partner in 2018. She was also as a co-founder of Women in Real Estate (WiRE), an organization to help women grow and reach their full potential in the industry. Barrigan began her career in the real estate department of the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs and went on to be a chief strategy officer and head of global real estate investments for the Dubai Investment Group. Barrigan, who was an All-New England honoree in soccer and a three-sport athlete at New Canaan High School, remained active by competing in triathlons after the leaving the Heights.
