Eagles Earn ITA All-Academic Team Honors
July 27, 2020 | Women's Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Boston College women's tennis program has retained its status as an ITA All-Academic Team after the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its annual academic honors on Monday.
Additionally, six Eagles were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their individual work in the classroom: Micayla Casella, Marion Conklin, Dasha Possokhova, Maria Ross, Hailey Wilcox and Kylie Wilcox.
"It is a privilege to coach such a dedicated and motivated group of student-athletes," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "Our team goals always include academic excellence and I'm very proud of the team's effort in the classroom. Additionally I would like to thank the academic support that Lee Metzger from Learning Resources provides our team, it's greatly helpful and much appreciated."
The ITA All-Academic award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
BC began the 2020 spring season 7-0 and finished 9-5 overall before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the remaining matches. Yufei Long and Kylie Wilcox closed the year ranked 38th nationally in doubles as the duo upset the ITA Fall All-American Doubles Champions from Yale.
