
Govaert, Warner Named 2020 Captains

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Seniors Fusine Govaert and Elizabeth Warner have been named the two field hockey team captains for the 2020 season.

"I always enjoy going through the captain's process each spring because it creates a lot of leadership discussions amongst the team," said Head Coach Kelly Doton. "Fusine and Elizabeth have been chosen by their teammates to lead the 2020 group and I couldn't be more excited to work with them. They are competitors, but they also are great people who have a tremendous amount of respect from the players and the coaching staff."

Govaert is coming off her best season at The Heights, where she was named an NFHCA First Team All-All-American, NFHCA All-Northeast Region first team member, All-ACC first team member and to the ACC All-Tournament team. She started all 23 games for the Eagles in 2019 and set career-highs in points (24), goals (eight) and assists (eight). Coming from Rye, New York, she enters the 2020 season with 19 career goals and 10 career assists for 48 career points.

Warner also appeared in all 23 games in 2019, making four starts. Scored five goals with three assists for 13 points. Notably, she scored the game-winning goal against Northwestern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and followed it up with another goal in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Louisville. A native of Acton, Massachusetts, Warner enters the 2020 season with 14 goals and five assists for 33 points throughout her career.

BC is coming off one of its best season's in program history, going 15-8 with a 4-2 ACC record. The Eagles were the second seed in the ACC Tournament and made its first ACC title game appearance before then making its first NCAA Final Four appearance in program history.
