The BC duo will take part in the virtual development camp, which will take place weekly.
CALGARY, Alberta — Two members of the Boston College women's hockey team have been named to Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team Summer Camp.
Â
Alexie Guay and Maddy McArthur will be among the 50 players attending the virtual BFL CANADA National Women's Development Team Summer Camp, which will meet weekly until athletes return to campus in the fall. As the virtual meetings progress through the summer, the athletes will cover topics that include at-home strength and conditioning plans, mental performance plans and check-ins, nutrition, dry-land skills, skating simulations, team-building activities, short-term international competition preparation and meetings with coaches.
Â
Guay, who was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, skated in all 36 contests for BC this year. She recorded 19 points (3-16-19) during the regular season, good for third overall in the country and second in Hockey East among rookie defenders. The Magog, Quebec native was on the ice for 52 even-strength goals, first overall in the nation among rookies, tied for second among all defenders and tied for 18th among all players. She had four multi-point games on the year, tied for second nationally among rookie defenders and first overall in Hockey East. Guay, who attended last year's development camp and two previous U-18 Development Camps, is a two-time member of Canada's Under-18 team. She was an assistant captain on the gold medal-winning squad at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championships and won a bronze at the 2018 tournament.
McArthur started 26 games for the Eagles this past season and recorded two shutouts on the year. She made 40-plus stops in three contests, putting up a career-high 43 saves against No. 2 Wisconsin and 41 against No. 1 Minnesota at the Country Classic. The St. Catharines, Ontario native, who attended the 2017 U-18 Development Camp, backstopped Canada to the bronze medal at the 2018 IIHF Women's Under-18 World Championships.Â
