Riveters Select Delaney Belinskas in 2020 NWHL Draft

Belinskas was taken with the 10th overall pick.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey senior Delaney Belinskas was drafted by the Metropolitan Riveters with the 10th overall selection in the second round of the 2020 NWHL Draft on Tuesday night.

A native of Port Orange, Fla., Belinskas scored a team-leading 20 goals this past season while finishing third overall on the team with 26 points. Her career-high 20 goals tied for third overall in Hockey East and 16th in the nation. She scored three short-handed goals on the year to tie for second in the nation and potted a career-high four game-winning goals to tie for the team lead. Belinskas, who led BC this season with a career-high 141 shots on goal, recorded six multi-goal games on the year to lead all Hockey East players and sit tied for sixth in the country. She had one hat trick and five two-goal games while also adding one multi-assist game. BC went 9-2-2 when she had at least one goal and 10-2-3 when she had at least one point.

The assistant captain was named the Hockey East Player of the Week twice in her final season on the Heights and also earned one NCAA Hockey First Star of the Week nod.

Belinskas finished her BC career with 93 points on 49 goals and 44 assists, with her 93 points ranking 25th all-time in program history and her 49 goals ranking 16th all-time. With three goals against Vermont on Jan. 17 – which came as part of her third career four-point game – she became the 23rd player in program history to join the 40 goals-40 assists club. With two goals against UConn on Nov. 9, Belinskas became the 32nd player in program history to reach 75 career points. Â
The forward brings the Eagles' total of NWHL-drafted players to 13. BC has had two number one overall drafts picks in the NWHL Draft with Katie Burt '18 and Alex Carpenter '16.
