DURHAM, N.H. – Spencer Knight made a career-high 47 saves in a 3-3 tie with New Hampshire in the Eagles' regular season finale on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center as BC enters the playoffs on a nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1).
Boston College closes the regular season at 24-8-2 overall with a 17-6-1 Hockey East record. The fourth-ranked Eagles will host Providence in a Hockey East Quarterfinal rematch next weekend on the Heights.
For the second straight night against the Wildcats, rookie Mike Hardman opened the scoring in the early stages with his 12th of the year just 1:42 into the contest.
Logan Hutsko tied the team lead in goals with his 19th of the season four minutes later to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead after one. Julius Mattila registered his team-leading 32nd assist on the play.
New Hampshire roared back in the second period to tie the game through goals from Angus Crookshank and Justin Fregona. Liam Blackburn finished a centering pass early in the third to give UNH its first lead, but Aapeli Räsänen provided the game-tying goal with 5:05 remaining in regulation.
The Wildcats thought they had won the game with 21.1 seconds left in overtime, but Eric MacAdams was called for goalie interference after crashing into Knight on a net-drive at the left post.
Rookie Alex Newhook extended his point streak to 12 games with an assist on Hardman's opening goal, while sophomore Jack McBain collected a pair of assists on the night.
