Long, Meng Named Eagles of the Week

Yufei Long of women's tennis and Bolang Meng of fencing have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior Yufei Long and sophomore Bolang Meng have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week.

In the women's tennis team's two-match week, Long beat a pair of top-35 ranked opponents in three sets for the Eagles. On Friday, she edged No. 33 Samantha Martinelli of Yale and then on Sunday she topped No. 30 Natasha Subhash of No. 11 Virginia in BC's ACC opener. Long was also 2-0 in doubles with Kylie Wilcox, beating Yale's ITA All-American National Champions Martinellie and Jessie Gong, 6-2, before defeating Virginia's No. 1 doubles team, 6-1.

Meng went 13-5 for the fencing team in sabre on Saturday at the Eric Sollee Invitational at Brandeis. The sophomore picked up wins over NCAA All-American Adam Green of No. 8 Penn and also defeated two-time All-American Grant Williams of NYU. Meng picked up at least one victory in all six of BC's rounds.
