No. 11 Georgia Tech Earns 6-1 ACC Win Over No. 49 Boston College

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, Mass. – 11th-ranked Georgia Tech earned a 6-1 ACC victory over No. 49 Boston College on Sunday at the Manchester Athletic Club.
The Eagles slipped to 8-4 (0-4 ACC) while the Yellow Jackets improved to 12-5 (2-1 ACC).
Laura Lopez earned the lone point for BC to protect her perfect record in singles. The sophomore pulled our a third set tiebreaker in fourth singles against Nami Otsuka, moving to 11-0 on the season.
Georgia Tech won in straight sets at the No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles positions to accumulate a 5-0 advantage and clinch the match. Elene Tsokilauri lost a third set superbreaker 14-12 in her sixth singles match against Nadia Gizdova after taking the second set 6-3.
The Jackets posted 6-1 victories in first and third doubles to earn the opening point of the conference match.
Boston College hosts Boston University next Friday (Feb. 28) on the Heights at 2 p.m. The Eagles' match against Notre Dame originally scheduled for Sunday (March 1) has been moved to Saturday (Feb. 29) at 8 p.m. and will be played at the Weymouth Club (75 Finnell Drive, Weymouth, MA).
