Boston College Drops 4-3 Final at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Boston College opened the match by grinding out the doubles point, but Brown took over in singles for a 4-3 non-conference victory on Tuesday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The loss drops the Eagles' record to 2-5 (0-3 ACC).Â
Javi Amantegui and Max Mendelsohn began the match by winning their third doubles matchup 6-3. Brown tied it at second doubles, but the No. 1 pairing of Derek Austin and Sean Mullins pulled out a 7-6 (5) decision to clinch the first point.
The Bears rebounded in singles by winning in slots 1-4 to seal the match, despite a strong three-set effort from Austin in top singles against Jacob Walker (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
Mullins was able to grind out his sixth singles matchup against Matthew Mu by taking a first and second set tiebreaker. Alexander Chieffalo claimed a third set superbreaker to win at No. 5 singles.
Boston College has a few weeks off until heading to La Jolla, California for the Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament on March 6-8.Â
