Junior averaged 25.5 points per game in two wins
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday that Boston College junior forward Taylor Soule was named the conference's women's basketball player of the week. Soule was sensational in BC's two victories, averaging 25.5 points per game in wins over New Hampshire and UMass.
ACC women's basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league's Blue Ribbon Panel.
Soule is 18th nationally in scoring (25.5 points per game) and 22nd in the country in rebounding (12.5 rebounds per game).
It marked the third time in Soule's career she has been named the ACC Player of the Week. The last time a BC player was named ACC Player of the Week was Soule on Feb. 24, 2020.
Soule, the 2019-20 ACC Most Improved Player and a 2020 preseason All-ACC selection, picked up where she left off last season, as she logged a pair of 20-point, double-double games to lead Boston College to a 2-0 week. The junior forward opened the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds in an 80-44 win against New Hampshire, including shooting 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
In Sunday's 90-82 overtime win against UMass, the West Lebanon, New Hampshire, native tied her career high with 29 points, highlighted by 15 in the second half, and pulled down 13 rebounds. Soule recorded her 11th and 12th career double-doubles, as she is one of just three ACC players with more than one double-double this season.
For the week, Soule was 14-of-28 from the floor to average 25.5 points per game and was an astounding 23-of-28 from the charity stripe, as she drew 23 fouls over the two games. Additionally, she grabbed 25 rebounds, headlined by 14 on the offensive end.
Soule and the Eagles return to action Wednesday versus Providence. ACC Network Extra will broadcast the game from Conte Forum at 5 p.m.
