The swim and dive team faces two foes for its first meet of the new year
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive team is set for its first competition of the new year as the Eagles head to Coral Gables, Fla., where the women will face Miami and the men take on Harvard. Competition is set to begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Jan. 4.
The Eagles had six student-athletes represent at the 2019 US Open in Atlanta, as Matt Clark, Colin O'Leary, Sam Roche and Maura Grimes each had lifetime-best performances against the worlds' best competitors. Sofia Zinis and Ali Kea also contributed strong performances to round out BC's representation at the four-day meet, rounding out the squads' 2019 competitions.Â
The matchup against Miami will mark the Eagles' second ACC meet of the season, as BC faced Duke in a quad meet in November. The team hasn't met Miami since last seasons' ACC Championship meets, but prior faced the Hurricanes in a regular season tri-meet with Florida Atlantic in 2018. Miami took the overall win, but the Eagles earned the second spot, defeating Florida Atlantic.Â
The Eagle men haven't taken on Harvard since the 2016-17 season, where the Crimson came out on top with a 179-112 takeaway.Â
Boston College returns to Chestnut Hill following its trip to the Sunshine State to host Tufts on Jan. 14 at the Margot Connell Recreation Center.Â
