LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior Fusine Govaert and Leah Settipane '16 have been selected to be a part of the 2020 U.S. Women's National Development Team, as announced by USA Field Hockey Monday.
The U.S. Women's National Development Team accounts for the transitional phase between the U-21 USWNT and the senior USWNT. Several of the trial attendees recently completed their final college season and are no longer permitted to be on the junior team due to age restrictions.
Govaert is coming off a breakout season for the Eagles, reaching career-highs in goals (8), assists (8) and points (24). The Rye, New York native was named a first team All-American, first team all-region and first team All-ACC member in 2019, helping lead BC to its first final four in program history.
Settipane graduated in 2016 after spending four seasons in net for the Eagles. She appeared in 81 games throughout her career, logging over 5,750 minutes with a 1.86 goals against average. Coming from Wilmington, Delaware, Settipane compiled a 48-33 record, while holding a .754 save percentage and 15 career shutouts.
The team is currently scheduled for two training camps in the coming months. The first will be held February 28 to March 2 in Berkeley, Calif., and second is set from March 27 to 29 in Chapel Hill and Durham, N.C. The team will then tour Scotland in their first international competition of the year from April 16 to 22.
