Eagles Back in Boston for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown
September 19, 2019 | Men's Cross Country
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team is back in Boston for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday, Sept. 20 at Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. The men's eight-kilometer race will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a combined 5k at 4:15 p.m.
Â
BC will be one of 21 schools from across the country competing on Friday at Franklin Park.
Â
"We have been training well since our opener 2 weekends ago," said BC cross country head coach Matt Kerr. "Sean Sullivan and Ben Ruffing continue to look strong and we'll be working Alex Horgan back into the roster to give us a strong three up front."
Â
Two weekends ago, BC traveled to Rhode Island for the Nassaney Invitational, where the team finished second. Sullivan (25:40.1) and Ruffing (25:42.8) led the charge for the Eagles, placing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Â
"Our success though will come down to how our next 3-5 runners pull together and if they can keep in close contact with our front runners," continued Kerr. "In a field this strong, separation will significantly affect our team score, so our main goal is to see a close 1-5 spread."
Â
At the Nassaney Invitational, the second group for BC finished in a pack, placing 20th, 22nd, and 23rd.
