CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey rising sophomore goaltender Kelly Pickreign has been named an AHCA Division I All-American Scholar, as announced Tuesday by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
Each All-American Scholar averaged a grade point average of 3.6 or better each semester and participated in 40 percent of their school's games during the 2018-19 season or was granted a waiver due to injury or for back-up goaltenders.
Pickreign earned three starts on the year, going 2-1-0 while posting a 1.34 goals against average and .946 save percentage. The Harvard, Mass. native earned her first career win with an 18-save performance against New Hampshire on Feb. 8.
"We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom," said AHCA executive director Joe Bertagna. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes, so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."
Along with collecting this AHCA All-American Scholar award, Pickreign earned a spot on the Women's Hockey East All-Academic Team earlier this month.
