
Five Incoming Eagles Selected in 2019 NHL Draft

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Five incoming freshmen for the Boston College men's hockey team had their names called this weekend at the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver at Rogers Arena, the most for the Eagles in a single draft in a decade. Four of the five players were taken in the first 50 selections overall.Â
BC also set a program record and became just the fifth program in college hockey history to have three players taken in the first round. Forwards Matt Boldy (Minnesota) and Alex Newhook (Colorado) and goaltender Spencer Knight (Florida) were all selected in the top 16 picks of the opening round.
Defenseman Drew Helleson went 47th overall in the second round to Colorado, and fellow blueliner Marshall Warren was taken by Minnesota at pick No. 166Â in round six. Boldy, Knight, Helleson and Warren were all teammates for the last two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program.Â

• Led the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in scoring last season with 102 points and won the Vern Dye Trophy as league MVP
• Ranked fifth among all skaters at the Under-18 World Championships with 10 points in seven games for Canada
Drew Helleson (D) | 2nd Round • 47th Pick • Colorado Avalanche
• Posted 23 points in 64 games for the U.S. Under-18's and added three assists in seven games at the World Championships
• Had a 40-point season at the Under-17 level for Team USA in 2017-18 before collecting seven points in eight playoff games
Marshall Warren (D) | 6th Round • 166th Pick • Minnesota Wild
• Registered 34 points in 58 contests for the U.S. Under-18's and had three points at the World Championships
• Had 30 points in 60 games at the Under-17 level in 2017-18 and won gold at the World Hockey Challenge with Team USA
