May 08, 2019 | Women's Soccer
The Eagles will play an 18-game regular season slate, including 11 home fixtures at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Under first-year head coach Jason Lowe, the Boston College women's soccer team will face a steady succession of high-level competition with its 2019 schedule. The Eagles will play an 18-game regular season slate, including 11 home fixtures at the Newton Campus Soccer Field, and match up with 11 opponents that made the NCAA tournament in 2018.
BC will host Colgate in a preseason exhibition on Aug. 12 and then travel to Vermont on Aug. 17 for another preseason test against the Catamounts at Applejack Stadium in Manchester.
The Eagles open up the season with three straight home games, kicking off the year against UMass on Thursday, Aug. 22 before two more intrastate battles against UMass Lowell (Aug. 25) and Boston University (Aug. 29). The Terriers won the Patriot League Tournament last year for a berth in the national tournament.
The first road test for the 2019 Eagles comes on Sept. 1 with a trip to Princeton to face the Tigers. It's then a three-game home stand in the span of a week for BC, as the team hosts Northeastern (Sept. 5), New Hampshire (Sept. 8), and Providence (Sept. 12). The final non-conference test of the season sees the Eagles travel to Mississippi State of the SEC. The Tigers – who won the Ivy League in 2018 – and Bulldogs both played in last year's tournament.
The Eagles' 10-game ACC schedule will kick off at defending national champion Florida State on Sept. 20. BC will return home to host Miami (Sept. 26) and Louisville (Sept. 29). Road games at NC State (Oct. 5) and Pitt (Oct. 10) will be followed up by home contests against Wake Forest (Oct. 13) and 2018 national runner-up UNC (Oct. 18). Louisville, NC State and Wake Forest also each represented the ACC in the 2018 national tournament, as did the Eagles' final three opponents of the year.
Two final regular season road games await BC in Virginia Tech (Oct. 24) and Virginia (Oct. 27) before the final regular season game at the Newton Campus Soccer Field against Clemson on Thursday, Oct. 31.
The ACC Tournament quarterfinals will be held at campus sites on Sunday, Nov. 3, with the winning teams heading to Cary, N.C. for the semifinals (Nov. 8) and championship (Nov. 10).
