
Urbinati, Metzdorf Named Eagles of the Week

Metzdorf helped baseball to a 2-1 win at Virginia Tech, Urbinati closed out her career with a singles win in the NCAA Tournament.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College seniors Jackie Urbinati and Dan Metzdorf have been named the Nissan Eagles of the week for their performances this past week.

Urbinati – competing with the women's tennis team in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday – won her final collegiate singles match in straight sets over Florida's Victoria Emma, 6-2, 6-2. The Harrison, N.Y. native was one game away from her eighth consecutive doubles victory with teammate Kylie Wilcox, but the match against the Gators went unfinished with the duo leading 5-3. Urbinati and Wilcox closed the year by going nine straight matches either winning or leading when the match was discontinued.

Metzdorf helped baseball to a 2-1 win at Virginia Tech on Saturday night in the ACC series-opener. The lefty stranded 10 batters in the 7.2-inning start while striking out eight, and he scattered eight hits and three walks over the start. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Burlington, Mass. native stranded two runners in scoring position. It was Metzdorf's eighth start of the year of six-plus innings and fourth of seven-plus. He has not allowed a run in his last two starts, totaling 16 innings for an official scoreless-inning streak of 15 frames.
