Boston College Qualifies For Championship Round

Eagles one of 18 teams to move into Gill Coed Finals
NEWPORT, R.I. (May 29, 2019) – The Boston College Coed sailing team placed third in the Western fleet to qualify for Gill College Sailing Coed National Championship, hosted by Brown University with support from Dartmouth College and NEISA. BC is one of 18 to advance to racing in the finals tomorrow morning out of host site Sail Newport Sailing Center at Fort Adams.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges held onto their lead from yesterday throughout the day today. Their A Division team placed in the top three in every race today and B-division stayed in the top ten. Yale University place second while Boston College moved from fourth place to third.
Sailing for Boston College in the A Division – seniors Wade Waddell, Isabella Loosbrock, Caroline Downey, Emma Perry and freshman Laura Ferraris. The B Division sailors for the Eagles were sophomore Sophia Reineke, seniors Peter Lynn and Tara Ferraris, junior Thomas Walden and freshmen Declan McGanahan and Mikayla Mathieu.
All 18 teams start new for the final competition on Thursday. The first warning for racing is at 10 a.m. The sailors will compete for the national title and the Henry A. Morss Memorial Trophy for the next two days.
