Urbinati Named ITA Most Improved Senior in Northeast Region

TEMPE, Ariz. – Boston College senior Jackie Urbinati was named the ITA's Most Improved Senior for the Northeast Region over the weekend. Urbinati helped lead the Eagles to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 22 years this season as team captain.

She finished the season ranked 51st nationally in doubles with Kylie Wilcox and No. 1 in the Northeast Region. The pair went 14-7 overall and won seven straight matches to close the year, including three over teams ranked in the top-50.

At the NCAA Tournament in Lawrence, Kansas, Urbinati defeated Victoria Emma of No. 24 Florida in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. She and Wilcox had a 5-3 lead in doubles on No. 25 Emma/McCartney Kessler at NCAA's but the match went unfinished.

The Harrison, New York native went 13-11 in singles as a senior and 7-1 against opponents in the Northeast Region. As a rookie, she posted a 5-16 overall singles record during the 2015-16 season.Â
