
Four Fencers Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

Cameron Mayer, Spencer Kuldell, Bolang Meng and Gillian Lawlor earned the recognition, which is based on academic and athletic achievement during the 2018-19 season.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –  The Boston College fencing program has placed four student-athletes on the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic teams, as announced Thursday by the conference.

Cameron Mayer, Spencer Kuldell, Bolang Meng and Gillian Lawlor each earned the recognition, which is based on academic and athletic achievement during the 2018-19 season.

Mayer, a finance major from Newton, Mass., finished tied for eighth in foil at the ACC Championships. The senior captain went on to place 11th at the NCAA Northeast Regional and was named the 2019 Northeast Fencing Conference Elliot Lilien Award winner. This is sthe second consecutive year that Mayer has earned an All-ACC Academic team nod.

Kuldell, a computer science major from Newton, Mass., finished fourth in the sabre at the ACC Championships in February. The freshman placed 19th at the NCAA Northeast Regional.

Meng, an economics major from Foster City, Calif., finished 12th in the sabre at the NCAA Northeast Regional and went on to compete at the NCAA Championships. The freshman finished 21st overall in the sabre.

Lawlor, who is an applied psychology and human development and elementary education major, placed 11th in sabre at the NCAA Northeast Regional. She went on to finish 17th overall at the NCAA Northeast Regional.
