No. 36 Eagles Drop Regular Season Finale at No. 4 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 4 Duke came back to win the doubles point and shut down the 36th-ranked Eagles in singles for a 4-0 ACC victory in the regular season finale on Sunday at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
Boston College closed the regular season at 15-9 overall and 5-9 in conference play, while the Blue Devils enter the ACC Tournament at 21-2 (13-1 ACC) as the No. 2 seed.
11th-seeded BC will face No. 14 seed Louisville in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday (April 17) at 5 p.m. in Cary, North Carolina. The Eagles beat the Cardinals 5-2 on the road two weeks ago.Â
Jackie Urbinati and Kylie Wilcox continued to excel in No. 1 doubles as the 72nd-ranked pair cruised past No. 81 Kelly Chen and Ellyse Hamlin 6-1. Boston College had two match points at No. 3 doubles with a chance to clinch the opening point, but Maria Mateas and Margaryta Bilokin won the final four games to defeat Loren Haukova and Elene Tsokilauri 7-5.
The Blue Devils took control of the match in singles, winning three consecutive matches in straight sets to secure the victory. Playing at No. 1 singles again in the absence of Yufei Long, Wilcox fell to No. 32 Chen 6-2, 6-1. Hamlin and Bilokin lost a total of four games in the No. 4 and 5 slots to give Duke the necessary four points.
Uribinati had won her first set against 13th-ranked Meible Chi, but the No. 2 singles match went unfinished.Â
BC enters the ACC Tournament with its most wins (15) since 2004 and a chance its first NCAA Tournament bid since 1997.
