
Eagles to Honor Clare Droesch on Feb. 16

Ayla Brown set to sing National Anthem
Every February, the Boston College women's basketball program selects a special day to take part in the "Play4Kay Initiative" along with all the women's college basketball programs across the country to raise awareness for breast cancer.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, the Eagles will host Clemson in what is not only be billed as the "Play4Kay Initiative" game but the program's Alumnae Day, to honor the many women who helped build the program.

This year, the game has more meaning as Boston College will honor alumna Clare Droesch, who passed away in the summer of 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

Droesch '05Â was a member of the 2004 Big East Championship team and was inducted into the BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2016.

Those expected to be in attendance include Droesch's parents – George and Patricia – along with many of her friends and family members from her hometown of Rockaway Beach, New York. Former teammates – Nicole Conway, Jess Deveny, Mo Leahy, Becky Gottstein, Kim Mackie, Kindyll Dorsey, Aja Parham, Lisa Macchia and Brooke Queenan – will also return to the Heights to honor their beloved teammate.

A special added bonus will be former Eagles guard Ayla Brown's singing of the National Anthem prior to the game. Brown played for the Eagles from 2006-10. While at BC, she was a finalist for the nationally-renowned television program American Idol. She recently returned to Massachusetts and co-hosts the morning show on Country 102.5. Â "Jackson and Ayla Brown" can be heard weekdays from 5:30 to 9 a.m. on WKLB-FM.
