Biele and Gutstein Lead Eagles in Middlebury Slalom

HANCOCK, Vt. – Parker Biele and Trent Gutstein led the BC alpine teams on Friday in the slalom competition at the Middlebury Carnival. Biele was 26th overall for the women, while Gutstein placed 32nd for the men's squad.
Biele's second run in the slalom was near the top-20 as she posted a combined time of 1:48.91. Gutstein slipped back a few spots after the second run but still earned a top-35 finish in 1:42.03.
Kelsie Grant (1:54.23) earned a spot just inside the top-40 with 39th, while Amanda Steffey (1:56.71) and Natalie Wetmore (1:56.81) finished 44th and 46th overall.
In the men's race, Bobby Ryan was the second-highest BC finisher as the rookie took 41st with a combined time of 1:43.89. Senior Aaron Taylor was seven spots back in 48th with his time of 1:45.78.
The giant slalom begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 16) at the Middlebury Snow Bowl.Â
