BC will honor former Head Coach Cathy Inglese with a uniform patch for all ACC games.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's basketball program will honor former Eagles Head Coach Cathy Inglese, who suddenly passed away over the summer, by wearing a patch on their uniforms for all ACC games this season. The Eagles will don the CI patch at the start of ACC action on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Duke.
Â
Inglese was head coach for Boston College for 13 seasons from 1993-2008. She guided the Eagles to a 239-151 record during her tenure. Â Inglese led the Eagles to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Sweet 16.

In 2004, the Inglese era culminated in the program's first-ever BIG EAST Championship. In exciting fashion, the fifth-seeded Eagles knocked off the top-seeded and fourth-ranked Connecticut Huskies in the tournament semifinal en route to claiming the conference crown. The Eagles also made conference history, becoming the first BIG EAST school to win the championship by virtue of four consecutive wins on four straight days. The team compiled a 27-7 overall mark, winning the most games in a single-season.
Â
Inglese guided the Eagles to a program-high national ranking of 14 (USA Today) at the end of the 2003-04 season.
Â
She was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2014.
Â
The program plans to honor Inglese on Sunday, January 12 during Alumni Day when Virginia (2 p.m.) comes to Conte Forum. For any alumni attending the game please send an RSVP to Women's Basketball Director of Operations Mike Gibson at gibsonmf@bc.edu.
