Dwyer Selected as ACC Defensive Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College senior goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the ACC on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Dwyer led the Eagles to a 1-0 win over No. 4 Duke, making three saves in 60 minutes of action. Late in the first quarter, the West Long Branch, New Jersey native made two sprawling back-to-back saves to keep the Eagles tied.

The senior captain is having a stellar season in net, amassing a 7-2 record with a 0.84 goals against average and 0.814 save percentage in 10 appearances. Both her goals against average and save percentage are good for second in the nation.

Dwyer has been lights out in net since Oct. 4 against Virginia. Since then, she's been 7-1 with a 0.500 goals against average and a 0.882 save percentage. In eight games, Dwyer has made 30 saves and given up only four goals with six shutouts.

Boston College went 11-6 in the regular season and 4-2 in ACC play. The four wins are the most for the Eagles in conference play since joining the ACC and helped BC secure the No. 2 seed in the ACC Championships, beginning on Thursday, Nov. 7. BC will face off against the No. 7 seed Wake Forest in the first round at 2:30 p.m., live on ACC Network.
