Grimes, Garner Named Eagles of the Week

Maura Grimes and Christian Garner have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College sophomore Christian Garner and junior Maura Grimes have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week for their performances this past week.

Garner made six saves in the men's soccer team's first round NCAA tournament win over No. 25 Yale to give BC its first NCAA tournament win since 2016. The shutout marked the fourth of the season for the Orleans, Mass. native. In the Eagles' second round loss to Washington on Sunday night, Garner had another six-game performance, including five in the second half, to keep BC in the game.

At the Terrier Invitational this weekend, Grimes broke her own program record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.69. Her first-place finishing time was also a U.S. open qualifying performance. The Coatesville, Pa. native was also a member of BC's 200-yard medley relay squad that took first in 1:41.81.
