No. 10 Eagles Secure Second Seed in ACC Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 10 Boston College field hockey team will be the second seed in the ACC Tournament, beginning on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Newton Field Hockey Complex where the Eagles will face off against No. 20 Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m.

No. 1 North Carolina secured the No. 1 seed with their 6-0 ACC record, while No. 6 Virginia is the No. 3 seed after going 4-2 but losing the head-to-head to BC.

The Eagles closed out a record-setting season on Friday, Nov. 1 against No. 4 Duke, defeating the Blue Devils, 1-0. The win gave BC an 11-6 record and 4-2 wins in the ACC. The four wins are the most conference by the Eagles since joining the ACC.

BC is led offensively by Margo Carlin, who scored 17 goals and tallied five assists on the year for 39 points. The 39 points are the eighth-most in program history for a single season. Fusine Govaert scored BC's lone goal in the Duke game, giving her a career-high seven goals to go along with six assists for 20 points.

In net, Sarah Dwyer has started nine games for BC with a 7-2 record and six shutouts. She has an ACC-leading 0.84 goals against average and .814 save percentage.
Full tournament books for the 2019 ACC Field Hockey Championship may be purchased on site for $10. Single-game adult tickets are $5 each. Youth 18 years of age and younger will be admitted free.
