No. 9 BC Falls to No. 1 North Carolina, 3-1, in ACC Championship

NEWTON, Mass. – In front of a sold-out, standing room only crowd at the Newton Field Hockey Complex, the No. 9 Boston College field hockey team fell to No. 1 North Carolina, 3-1, in the ACC Championship on Sunday.

BC took five shots throughout the game, while having five penalty corners.

In net, Sarah Dwyer played just over 57 minutes, making three saves and giving up all three goals.

UNC opened the scoring in the first period, where Marissa Creatore scored with an extra player on a penalty corner at 11:53.

The game would be stuck at 1-0 for 30 minutes of action, until Jaime Natale was found open by Elizabeth Warner, who hit a shot first-time into the of the net and draw BC level at 1-1 at 41:39.

The Tar Heels would then take the lead off the stick of Yentl Leemans with another extra attacker at 48:05 and then put the game away with another Creatore goal at 56:06.

- Sarah Dwyer, Fusine Govaert and Jaime Natale were named to the 2019 ACC Championships All-Tournament Team. Dwyer started all three games in goal for BC, compiling two shutout performances to get BC to the title game. Govaert scored BC's game-winning goal to advance to the championship in overtime against Virginia. Natale scored two goals in the tournament, one in the first round against Wake Forest and one in the championship.
- Sarah Dwyer gave up three goals on six shots and now has a GAA of 0.88, which is good for second in the country.
- With her goal today, Jaime Natale has four on the season and 13 points this year. The four goals ties her career-high, set as a freshman, and the 13 points is a career-high.
