BC Competes at Stu Nelson, Coed Showcase and for Hewitt Trophy

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College sailing team posted a pair of top-five finishes over the weekend while competing for the Hewitt Trophy and at the Stu Nelson and Coed Showcase.

While competing for the Hewitt Trophy, BC placed fourth with a total of 168 points. Thomas Walden and Katharine Bowman placed fourth in the A Division with 86 points, while Scott Rasmussen and Nicole Moeder scored 82 points to finish in seventh in the B Division.

BC also finished in fourth at the Coed Showcase at St. Mary's, scoring 255 points. Sophia Reineke, Declan McGranahan and Mikayla Mathieu teamed up to place seventh in the A Division with 143 points. McGranahan raced regattas 1-2 and 5-18, while Mathieu competed in races 3-4. Then the trio of Jack DeNatale, Eliza Wright and Robert Hunter scored 112 points to finish in third in the B Division. Wright competed in the first 12 races while Hunter competed in 13-18.

Lastly, at the Stu Nelson Regatta, BC placed 14th with 300 points. Emma Batcher and Laura Ferraris placed 16th in the A Division with 158 points, while Elizabeth Shanahan and Lilly Mathieu finished in 13th in the B Division with 142 points.

BC is competing in four regattas for the Ross Trophy, Capt. Hurst Bowl and at the NEISA March Race Championships and Women's Showcase Finals on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13.
