All four Boston College boats finished in the top-12 of its respective races this past weekend.
BOSTON -- The Boston College rowing team took part in the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta over the weekend on its home course on the Charles River. All four BC boats finished in the top-12, including the Women's Championship 4 that landed 11th in a time of 18:36.326. Conditions were ideal, 60 degrees and sunny with a little bit of a gusting head wind on Saturday and an eerily calm day Sunday according to first-year head coach Grace Hollowell.
"It is always great to race on our home course and the energy and the fanfare of the Charles is always exciting," added Hollowell. "Across all crews the focus was on effort and execution and I think they did a great job of really buying into that. While execution may not have been perfect, the effort was spot on and that is a big win. All crews also did a nice job of staying composed and internal in some challenging high pressure, high energy situations."
In a field of 55 boats, the Eagles' Club 4+ A finished in 11th at 19:31.326. The Club 4+ B boat was 20th at 20:02.840 and the Club 8+ took 12th of 31 in 17:28.618.
"The team took some good steps forward this weekend and also learned a lot," stated Hollowell. "I'm looking forward to getting back to work as we look towards the Foot of the Charles in a few weeks."
The Foot of the Charles is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 17 and wraps the Eagles' fall competition season.
